Unhappy Down on my luck

After Christmas I had about $800 extra to spend on my car, so I decided to buy some rims and taillights. Well the bad luck started when I went to order my rims. I was going to go with the speedy lite 5, and after trying three different companies I finally found out that speedy no longer makes the lite 5 in 17x7 for the Focus. I did finally find a set of rims and ordered them. Then my taillights came in and when I went to install them the back where the lights go in had not been cut. So I called the company that I ordered them from and they told me to send them back and they would send me another pair. Then on top of all that I was driving in to work Wednesday, and about half way to work I stopped at a red light. Went to leave the light and when the car was about to shift in to fourth gear the rpms all of a sudden shot to the red line and the car jerked real hard. I had to drive like 40 mph the rest of the way to work and then I took it to the transmission shop to see what was wrong. The transmission is out in the car and it is going to cost $1800 to have it rebuilt! Now I got to wait to get it back till I can get my rims and taillights on.

That really sucks! Sorry to hear this...I agree with loco though, I'd try to see if there is one on Ebay for cheap around your area.

Thanks and I hope it gets better too. I thought about getting a used tranny but I work at a car lot and the transmission shop we use is really good. Plus with them I get a 6 month 6000 mile warranty and most of the time you don't get one with a used tranny.

Well my luck did get better. After the transmission shop got the pan off the fluid was clean. Turns out that the shift solenoid had went out so the job only cost me $250 instead of the $1800. Now I get to get my rims on tomorrow.

WOW, that's a good tranny shop!

Nice to see some honest repair places still exist.

They deserve to have some publicity, please share with us who did the work so other local members can send them some business.
