2010 Golf R = My Focus RS I won't see

Well since I love my SVTF....and I would love a 2010 Focus RS...I think I might purchase a 2010 Golf R as a substitute.

I'm a liking!

Wow ... it does look pretty nice and the power output is pretty good also.

I enjoy the R32s so this is nice. Hopefully they bring it over as a manuel ... because like stated the last R32 decided to go Automatic here.

The Price point will probably be between 28K - 35K my guess ... where like mlbbaseball stated ... I would rather import an Focus RS from Mexico for that.

Importing is Big $$, but if you figure out a cheap way, let us know!

The new R, which I guess is what they are calling it, I thought it was R20 which is what everyone else is calling it, is an awesome car. It looks awesome too. But I don't know if this is a substitute for an RS. I think I'd go with a GTI as a substitue. Reasoning? The RS is a raw sport hatch, the R and the R32 have always been fast hatches but are a bit tame, more of a grand tourer. Thats why I say GTI b/c its alittle bit less grand tourer, alittle more sports car.

But this is all besides the point you can just wait till this time next year when the next focus comes out and see what they are doing about a sport model.

Wait... so VW wants 35 grand for a 270hp, AWD, auto-only car? Give me a used S2K or a 370Z any day over the R!!!!!!

Kiss my arse, VW. Like Honda and Toyota before you, you're going soft and pumping out lamer and lamer rides as the years go on. Dont you understand that its a DRIVERS car?!?!?! Sorry, manumatics should be an OPTION, not standard equipment. AARRRGGGGGGHHHHH

Total valid points. I mostly like the R due to power, AWD, and hatch. Kinda hinting at it being what the Stateside Focus RS should be. But in reality, I would do the 370Z for the price point. Just its hard to fully commit to the 370 since i love hatch versatility!

I think you can compare GTi to Focus ST (Euro version), and VW R to RS easily.

None the less, I would buy a used Volvo S60 R ;)

I would agree with your assertion about manumatics, if you qualify which ones your talking about. Most American cars, check, they are teh suck. Most Rice rockets, here again, check. But if one thing can be said about VW, they changed the manumatic game with the DSG. Technologically speaking DSG doesn't even qualifty as a manumatic; really, its a manual with twin clutches and an electronic controlled shift mechanism. This isn't some crappy Chrysler with a 4-spd Mitsu slapstick. Also, notice the numbers listed as far as 0-72 mph, its faster....not by much, but faster. Electronically, the DSG can shift faster and more accurately (rev-matching the engine to gear) than a race car driver, let alone some dude that likes to burn the tires off of their car turning into the Taco Bell drive-thru.
