Focus 01 wagon se help..

So I posted this message in the technical thread with no response over a week so Im hoping to get someone to help here..

So my wife and I own a red 01 Focus Wagon SE.. the mechanical part of it we have no complaints but....

the driver side door handle breaks and had to be serviced 3 times.. now a 4th
It seems as if maybe it gets wore out or something because just after owning it for 4 years or so the handle wont work. It seems as if the door is locked and the handle wont latch on to the door to open it. We always went to our local, reliable mechanic who had to special order the part from the dealership to put it in. From what I understand its the long handle mechanism in the door that has been replaced 3 times and now again. But the only difference this time is when its cold the door opens and when its hot it works just fine. I'm obviously getting really tired of this problem and am wondering if anyone has had this happen to them or seen / heard of it happening with this car. And just to clarify the handle itself pulls out and is functional but the mechanical arm or whatever inside the door which latches on and opens the door apparently breaks.

...and, sorry we didn't help when you posted before.

The outer door handle isn't breaking, it's one of the rods inside the door that is, right? Without seeing your car, I would replace the door latch. (Might try lubing it first.) If the latch is sticking when you pull the handle, something has to give. Either you'll force the latch to open, or break the weakest link. Which in your case seems to be one of the rods.
