Shape is very similar, but no. Look at the distance between the front door and the front wheel. Also, the height of the hoodline is taller on the white car and the A-pillars are all wrong. A $2000 electric car? I'll believe it when I see it, but I'd be all over it if it happens.

Oh, and after doing some Googling on "Wheego Whip", it seems that either the OP or the news cast forgot a "0". Everything I have found states it will be sold as a "LSV" (low speed vehicle, 25mph top speed) until it can pass DOT crash testing and retail for $19k.

$19k electric car based on a Chinese platform? No thanks. I'll take a $1k 1st gen Geo Metro and $18k worth of gas.

But after State and Federal rebates it comes out to be a $2000 car.

In the video, they stated that the WheeGo will cost between $3,000 and $4,000 after the government credit is applied. The car is called the WheeGo Whip. It has a range of 40 miles and takes 8 - 10 hours for a single charge.

If you wanted something just to get back and forth from work and it was close enough, it might be something to consider. I think I'll take a pass.

EDIT: I see a couple of people beat me to the punch. Oh well.

Ah, OK. I'm behind a firewall and can't watch the vid. I'll have to check out Indiana's rebates (if any). That makes it very appealing. I have a 25 mile commute round-trip and I also have two bikes that can give me my fix for speed.

the electric car will create more pollution, etc because it takes electricity to charge it ergo if everyone in america had electric cars the power plants would be running at a higher capacity. fuel cell or a deseil-electric would be better. a multi fuel deseil engine that is. u.s. department of energy is one of the biggest wastes of taxpayer money for an agency whose job is to create a national energy policy which it has never done.
