Gas Mileage Statistics

Yeah, so I'm a huge dork, and have always kept track of my mileage on all of my cars.

Well, I bought my '02 ZTS last October 1st, and have kept track of everything since then. I figured, it's been a year, I should see how my first year went. The stats below are from Oct 1st, 2002 thru Oct 6, 2003.

That chart shows my mileage jumps throughout the year. The part where it dips all the way to the bottom (0) I had lost some information on my computer (harddrive crashed), so that's kinda FUBARed, but everything else is accurate. This is all on 87 octane gas.

Average MPG = 27.034
Max MPG = 34.2
Min MPG = 20.3
Total Mileage = 18,404

Just some strange observations... The latter (and better) mileage has been since I started my new job only 5 miles from home (all city). The lesser mileage was when I was working 35 miles from work (all highway). Go figure!!

I also had, on average, a 2mpg gain once I installed the K&N filter and SVT snorkel/box.

Thought I'd share.

Nah, not at all dude. Your not alone, I've done it in all my vehicles as well. I thought I was the only one that did that too. I took after my dad is why I do it, and now it's just out of habit. Everytime I fill up and all work that has been done on it has been recorded. I'm not as high tech as you though, so don't have a chart. I will figure the avg up and get back to ya on it. I'm kinda curious anyways since it's been almost a yr since i've had it. Just glad to know i'm not alone out there, and if we're the only two that do it, then i'm all game for being called a dork

Nice sciron! Did you do that in Excel? I'm thinkin of keeping track of my car's mileage too... it's at like 3200 now so I'll probably start after its first oil change, just as a convenient place. It is interesting about your new commute... lead foot on the highway maybe?

I also do the same thing. Everytime I get gas I scribble it down on a piece of paper and keep it in my glove compartment. The best I have gotten yet has been 34.6 and the worst has been 24.1 (which was all city driving.)
