Kbb

o.O
Just helped a friend look up a KBB value of his car and decided to screw around and put in my Focus to see what it shows for me

Its an 09 SE sedan with 20250 miles in excellent condition and trade in is a tad over $11k, private party a tad over $13k and suggested retail at a tad over $15k..

I guess I got a pretty solid deal then for $12999 new

edit- hmm tried again to see how much mileage affects it.. I put in 85000 as the mileage and it only knocked the prices down $1-2k
Guess they weight it by year more

I did that with my SVT awhile ago and with 60,000 miles, trade in value was something like $3500, I was shocked to say the least. Its almost paid off now and I'll never get rid of it.

Wow, you could probably sell it for a little more than the price KBB gives you too if you were going to sell it (I know you're probably not going to.) I put my old car into KBB and it said $5,000, (2000 Toyota Solara) and I ended up selling it for around $8,000.

I prefer the NADA numbers. My wife recently was hit in the van, and State Farm (the other guy's ins) used NADA to figure giving me $3k for a 97 Aerostar, 4.0, dual air, extended van with 140k!! That was the clean retail. The body shop guy insisted there was no way that he couldn't say that van wasn't clean.

KBB numbers are great for the "feel good" moment. Unfortunately they don't always stand up to the real numbers of what people are willing to pay.

no time right now but I'll see what the difference between nada and kbb is.

I'm not gonna sell it.. gonna drive the crap out of it and then consider changing at 85-95k miles

Same here. I'm not planning on parting with my SVTF anytime soon...unless they bring the Focus RS over; then I'm definitely upgrading.
