2006 hatchback advice

Hello,

Well after a brave battle I now need to retire my 2002 SPI . No compression in the first 3 cylinders. Mechanics said I would need a new engine and alot of other work totaling about 4K

Anyway I have been car shopping test driving may used vehicals. After driving the focus for so many years, its the only car I feel comfortable in. Plus the fuel economy cant be beat. I think I may have decided on a 2006 hatchback. Going for a trst drive tomorrow. Are there any "glitches" or common issues that I should look out for?

I own and '07 hatch and I have had no problems, (knock on wood).

I don't remember anyone here with an '06 reporting any special problems.

Well I have a 06 and the only problem I had with it is the throttle cable broke, but it was under warranty and the retention spring for the clutch pedal was bad on mine and got it fixed under warranty. Other then that it hasn't given me any real problem.

I bought an '06 a year and a half ago....had 23K on it. In 12K miles since then.....the alternator failed, and the driver door latch assy failed (the major issues). Fortunately they were both under warranty. I bought a Ford extended policy when the 3-year OEM warranty expired......lucky me. That alternator job is expensive.

Right now the air-recirculation motor in the dash failed. It's also under warranty.....but the entire dash must be removed. I don't think I want them to do that. I can live with that little problem.

Have them put the car in the air and examine it closely.....check for leaks, and damage/body shop work, and rust. My tires were shot when I got the car, and I had to get new ones immediately, plus have it aligned (tire edges were worn).

Good luck.....I must have looked at five different hatches before I bought my white '06.
