Rear Windows

I just bought my 09 a month ago and today while cleaning my windows I was shocked to learn that there is still a small car that the rear windows roll down past 1/2 way! In fact they roll almost all the way down! Ahhh, life's simple pleasures, lol.

wait wait.. I personally have not seen one that doesn't roll down that far.

Ironically though the other day, I was in the back of a Chevy Equinox (mini big suv thing like the size of the Escape?) You would expect those damn windows to roll down further but no. they go about half like you said. I couldn't stick my head out the window without troubles.. whats up with that.

The New focus's go that low too? that's awesome. I loved it when I found out mine did that too. I'm happy it never changed.

I think the idea is that they're trying to make you keep your head inside the vehicle, not our the window lol. I honestly say let people have no safety features or seat belts if they choose to when theyre past age 21. If they get hurt and die, its just survival of the fittest taking place.

Maybe you had to get out or something? at least let them roll further down than it did. It's ridiculous.
It barely even went half way down and it was down all the way at max.

In most cases, how far the rear door glass rolls down has nothing to do with cost for the manufacturer - it's more a function of the size of the door itself, and whether there's room for the door glass inside it. In a lot of rear doors, the rear wheel arch intrudes on the door, cutting down the distance that the rear edge of the door glass goes down into the door.

I'm a bit surprised that the 09 rear doors go down most of the way (picture would be helpful here), because my '03 wagon door glass goes down only just past half way.......

Taking an extreme example - a late model Chevy Suburban - rear door glass goes all the way down - no wheel arch intrusion. The same year Chevy Tahoe - the rear door glass goes only part way down due to the wheel arch intrusion.

They only way around this problem is to put in a fixed door quarter glass, shortening the front-to-back length of the door glass, allowing the full height of the glass to go down inside the door.

I kinda though Crown Victoria's back windows rolled down all the way down completely. But correct me if I am wrong but didn't they do that so that little children won't fall out the back car door window?
