2011 U.S. Focus To Start At $17,995.00?

Business Week magazine article, August 25, 2009, Automakers Go on the Small-Car Offensive: says:

"Americans also see them (small cars) as cars for people who can't afford a better ride. So the carmakers are loading up their small models with creature comforts and technology in the hopes of winning customers and charging them a premium. Ford's new Focus compact and Fiesta subcompact will feature the Sync infotainment system, which allows drivers to load music onto an in-dash hard drive, and hands-free calling and navigation. Ford says the new SYNC-equipped Focus fetches $2,000 more than the old one." See: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...5000821813.htm

If the current cheapest 2010 Focus 4 door sedan is $15,995.00 before destination, then the 2011 model would start at $17,995.00, which will inlcude Sync and navigation. I guess Focus is moving upmarket!

Since the start of 2011 U.S Focus production is scheduled for November of 2010, where are the spy pixs of the U.S. Focus mules/prototypes? That is barely over a year away.

Well.. its about time the "luxury" stuff of a few years past become standard.
It's like back then when cassette was all you got and you had to pay a premium for CD.

Now CD is standard and you have to pay extra for sync and navi. Next up is Navi and Sync is standard and whats next?

The last thing I need is a navigation system, Im am well aware of my surroundings to me it only an eye sore. Sync is a nice system but I don't listen to music like other do so both of those products are out of my league.

You've got that right. I get a free road atlas every year from my insurance company. That's all I need. Not to mention, Mapquest, Google Maps, Yahioo! Maps etc.....

Nope, not really...considering what your suppose to be getting from the new focus. But, i doubt it'll start at that price, b/c in order for it to be competative it needs to have a base model around 16k...which is where the cheapest civic, mazda 3 etc are. Don't forget the Fiesta will be slotting in below that. So people who might be expecting to pick up a brand new focus for 12 or 13k like you did back in the day, it probably won't happen. Although a fiesta for that price is an AWESOME deal. I think we are going to see something of the new focus in the next couple of months. The autoshow season is beginning very soon.
