windshield fogging

I was wondering if anybody else is having a windshield fogging problem in their focus? Within the last year or so it has been a constant battle to the point I must keep the defroster on all the time. Any solutions?

Is your A/C cold when you put it on a cold setting? Do you run the A/C compressor when you have the defroster on?

I used to get a bit of fogging but, after a good scrub, I almost never see it. I cleaned both sides of the window with some glass cleaner and wiped it town with a few dry paper towels. No more fog!

That's a thought. If you have dirt of any type on the glass it will absorb moisture and fog more easily. Cleaning the glass and charging the A/C, if it's low, is about all you can do.

Something else I've been doing as of late is using the Rain-X windshield cleaner on both sides of the window. Cleans dirt, resists moisture. Its pure win in a bottle!

A good cleaning should definitely help as Phacade mentioned.

On my 07, the AC seems to come on automatically when I turn the control knob to defrost... this is the first car that I've had that does this, and I don't like it.

^^^That's been a common practice on all vehicles since about the mid 1990's. It actually helps keep your A/C in good condition because it runs all year. This keeps seals moist and the A/C system lubricated.

Ah, no A/C button. That's typical for an American car, but I'm surprised the Focus is that way. Like someone said, who cares, just use it as it's good for the A/C to run anyway. Ever notice they always fail at the beginning of the summer?

windshield fogging

Thanks for all the insight guys. Just a note, I can't be sure but I think it coincided with the windshield change I had done a few years ago. I'll try all the stuff you mentioned. T
