Electric Focus

I was reading this artical about Jay Lenno's new show(from www.wsj.com 8/21). I found this part pretty interesting:

"Mr. Leno, who has a 17,000-square-foot garage, is working on a segment he calls the "green car challenge." Guest stars will be able to race around a track in a high-powered electric Ford Focus. "There are a lot of celebrities who people want to see, but they don't necessarily want to hear them talk," Mr. Leno says. (It also provides a nice spot for sponsor Ford.)"

Has anyone heard anything about this before now? Tried to search but did'nt really find anything.

Thoughts? Sounds fun to me.

Its true. There are a lot of celebrities I'd like to see but definitely don't wat to hear talk. Still, putting a star in a reasonably priced car around a test track is an original idea...or is it?

Anyone else think this sounds a bit like Top Gear?

^^Gotta agree, I only want to hear from celebs when They are doing what I paid good money to see Them do: act. As for the green part, umm WTF part of a 17,000sqft garage is supposed to be "Green"? Im personally gratified that the car of choice was a Focus, and I hope this generates more interest in the Focus, but I for one could care less about the electric part. There's nothing "alternative" about a power source that is generated from Coal-fire Power Plants. It is a start, I suppose. And like I said, I'm glad the Focus is the (pardon the pun) focal point of this challenge.

Not sure if the car is actually going to be an electric Focus, but if Ford sponsors him, kudos to them, because you know Leno is not partial to any one make of vehicle. Shows that Ford is not afraid of advertising when other makes are shown on the show......

I have coal-fired plants all around me and I'd rather see electric cars than gas. Can you see more than one plant at a time?

There's nothing at all that's uncool about electric cars if they have a decent range. In fact, they have torque to shred tires off of the rims with no problem. I'm really excited to see where electric cars go in the future.

Thanks, this was the kind of response I looking for. Lol, everyone else must just be grumpy today or something.

I'd much like to see more attention on the Focus, especially with the words high powered in front. More focus buzz and support can only help us.
