US and European Focus differences?

After being here just over a week i was wondering the differences between the 2 markets and thinks i have noticed different to between them mainly the SVT focus and ST170 european focus but also the others like the ZX3 and ZX5

First think i noticed between the 2 markets was the rear bumper, wondered why the ZXs bumper stuck out so far? is it to do with Laws you have other there or was it just Fords design team to have say a larger crumple zone?

the other things i noticed were the front grille and the indicators, is that another law for vehicles or do you ever do say a conversion so the indicators are in the lights like over here in Europe?

and for the SVT/ST170 differance i see you get different front bumpers, wheels interior trim and even cruise control but im guessing thats down to design teams then laws just wondered if the rear bumper and indicators were motoring laws you have?

cheers for your time and also still enjoying the site, i have to say liking the sedans compared to the ones over here which rarely get modded lol

Yes, the bumper sizes are due to the US's laws.

I don't know why the indicators are in the grill, many people over here choose ST170's, Mach HID's, or similar headlights to remove the indicators from the grill.

Technically, it was because of a Canadian law, but to simplify manufacturing, US cars are built to meet Canada's 5MPH impact test instead of a 2.5MPH impact test.

Yes, we can change it out.

One of the other largest difference is the rear turn signal. Ours are solid red, while European Focuses get an amber turn signal (and bumper mounted fog light) There is no law on that, but I think its what thought what Americans want (for the longest time, thats how American cars were built, with solid red rear lights)

Also, we don't get the turn signal repeaters on the fenders, because we don't have a law requiring them.

Also, some European models get a clock built into the center dash, and the option of climate control, neither were offered in the US.
