Has anyone figured it out

With so many of us having the dreaded stumble issue I can't believe it hasn't been figured out yet. so I was wondering if we could start a list to show everything that you have tried. It would be a big help to alot of people that don't know how or where to start to fix there focus. maybe even sticky it

most stumble problems are from the following

1. dpfe
2. IAC tube pinched or cracked
3. failing plug wires
4. sparkplugs
not all in particular order

It has to be something with either rogue frequencies in the air or something changed in the gasoline we use.

My Focus does it.
My moms 2003 Golf does it.
My dads 2001 Chevy truck does it.
My brothers 1994 Tempo does it.

We all get fuel from different gas stations (who may all get from the same refinery, I'm not sure, bet they do though).

If you dig you will find the same issues popping up more and more on other model specif forums aswell.

Are we talking about the return-to-idle-stumble, where the rpm drops below idle for a second, the car senses it, then boost the rpm back up?
Sucks...I'm hoping Tom's tune will help.
New FRPP plug wires, properly gapped plat plugs, 91 octane fuel...it's a random occurance for me!

hmmmmmmm.......... have you checked your o-rings and valve cover gasket?

Mine stumbled quite a bit and then I changed my gasket and o-rings and it ran perfect. Sometimes on higher mileage vehicles, the gasket and o-rings start to deteriorate and let oil seep through to the plugs, causing them to misfire, or "stumble". it's a relatively easy fix, and cheap too. It can be done by pretty much anyone with a fair sense of their car in a few hours.

Other than that....... clean the MAF..... maybe??.......

The OP does not have a SPI, so he does not have O-Rings around the spark plug tubes.
