Why haven't HID's been adapted for trucks?

Just wondering: why haven't HID's/Xenon been made for pickup trucks like the newest F-150, Silverado, and Ram? Would it be because most of the trucks are used by people who don't want to dish out $$$ for a replacement bulb, or they raise MSRP too much?
HID's and xenon headlamps are on big SUV's like the Navigator and Land Rovers. These don't blind people like aftermarket HID kits. So why?

I'm sure cost is one of the big factors but you also have to consider cut-off. HIDs need to be cut off to avoid blinding other motorists but still have enough throw to make it worth their while. Trucks typically sit higher, so the cut-off would have to be steeper, meaning less light throw...thus invalidating their use on (higher) trucks.

Now I have seen HIDs on a lot of crossovers and smaller SUV's.

^^^Not really sure that's the reason since they put them on the huge Escalades, as the OP said, without too many problems. I think it mainly between cost and HIDs are still considered a luxury option which wouldn't fit most people's idea of the options that should be available on a truck.

They offer HIDs on Escalades? I didn't realize that. Oh well, I guess one of my explanations is now bunk.

Yes, the new ones use projectors. The older models, It's just the reflective housing is designed for HIDs.

It's because a truck is a truck. I think it's ridiculous that you can't buy a 4X4 without spending 35-40 grand as it is by the time you get the towing package and a decent size bed. Adding these in would just jack the price up that much more.

I think it has to do with the intended use of the vehicals....

For example Trucks are mainly used for work/ hauling things where they are more apt to get damaged and its far cheaper to replace a halogen than a HID.

Yeah but when's the last time anyone seen an Escalade do serious 4 wheeling in the mud or going thru a construction site?
