Pre-Trip Checklist for a Long Trip

I was hoping some people here could help me come up with a car maintenance check-list to go through to get my fofo ready for it's long journey.

This is all I could think of at the moment:

*Oil change (not due for another 1,000 miles but early won't hurt)
*Check tires (pressure/air)
*Check belts (someone's chirping at the moment)
*Empty in another can of A/C refrigerant (this time with sealer, hopefully it lasts longer than 2 WEEKS this time!)
*Get the revving issue sorted out when a/c is on (throttle sensor? leak somewhere?)
*Get the check engine light issue sorted out (emissions valve)
*Get shocks and struts evaluated

Clean ur Headlights/tailights and all windows

clean the interior (i can't stand to drive w/ a dirty interior)

Be sure you have al your music and that your cd player or whatever is working right.

Check the wipers, or go ahead and replace them.

Get brakes checked too

he mentioned tires, definitely important. if its gonna be a really long trip via highway, i'd up tire pressure just a few pounds (5 or less) over what the door jam says to get some better mileage. just leave time to stop

^^ I'd also check your brake pads/shoes and the rotor/drum surfaces. You want good thickness remaining on the pads/shoes and no significant scoring or high spots on the rotor/inner drum surfaces. If your brake pedal is soft or your brakes are grabby, also check to see that there's no air in the system, and bleed the brakes on all four wheels if there is any air anywhere in the system.

Check hoses for leaks or cracking that might develop leaks. Radiator hoses should be free from bulges or soft areas. Brake hoses should be clean and dry, especially at fittings.

It's probably a good time to check and re-torque all the lug nuts on your wheels. Check the air pressure in your spare tire and be sure you have all the parts of your jack and all the tools needed to remove and replace a wheel should a tire go flat out in the middle of nowhere.

Do you have good, detailed road maps of the state(s)/province(s) you'll be traveling through? Are your maps reasonably up to date?

"CD" player? Is that like an 8-track or something?

id change your oil now and get it dirty before your trip. You never want to do an oil change and then go on a long tripl.
