Part of driving any new car (even if it is only "new" to you) is getting used to the gas-shift-clutch combination. Master one car and you can still feel like a rookie in a new one. Just remember to feel out the clutch and listen to the engine. If it feels like its about to die, give it a little more gas...but not too much! I always recomment taking a car your unfamiliar with to a nice big parking lot and practice with it a bit until your comfortable with it. Good luck!

IDK how hard that would be on the tranny to say either way. Sounds like He had trouble with 1st as well. A little trick I use when parking, I find a rev point just a couple hundred revs above idle(clutch in) and mostly just slowly move the clutch til it grabs, going in and out on the clutch to move Me, as oppoed to the gas pedal. It's easier to show than to explain. Like Phacade said, though. Go find a parking lot, and practice.

Well its never good on a car to stall it, but its not the end of the world either. If the car is stalling out, either give it a little more gas...or possibly get it checked out. My wife's car was doing the same thing, so I changed out the spark plugs and wires, gave it a general tune up, and it didn't have a stalling problem anymore.

Then again, it could be just you getting used to the car too.

I dont think it is too bad for the car if it stalls. It has to encouter this do to new drivers. But i would guess that if you stall all the time it would were down the clutch and stuff.

When trying to park...this is what i did to learn 1st gear quickly. Go to a vacant parking lot or somewhere with a hill. Just try drving in first till you get the hang of it. If you spend 10 to 15 minutes learning first you will have it down quick.

Once you get it you wont forget. Just slowly let out the clutch whilst givving it gas, obviously you dont want to floor it but just ever so slightly.

You'll get the hang of it. Dont sweat it!
