License plate covers

I recently bought a tinted cover strictly for looks, and I like it. But I was looking online and I saw this:
http://www.phantomplate.com/

They have a spray and a cover, but I dont see why you'd spraypaint your license plate when you can cover it.
http://www.phantomplate.com/photoshield.html

If you live in a city with those damn red light cameras, this seems like a good idea. NOT FOR INTENTIONAL RUNNING, but for those accidents that we all have.

Off topic-
BTW why is the post reply button bright orange?

^^ LOL no kidding

They did ALL of those things on mythbusters and ALL of them failed to even distort the licence plate.

Does anyone STILL believe you can outsmart police forces anywhere???
The s**t they put on the market is USELESS, it's been debated, proven wrong etc...
WHAT ELSE people need to hear, on the other hand there will allways be an idiot somewhere to buy this stuff, that's why they are still selling this.

I clicked on that link at my job (public library) and our web filter blocked it.

Reason: illegal or questionable site.

I saw this on the news a while ago. People sprayed their plates with cooking oil so when they ran the toll plaza's the bright light illuminating the plates would reflect off the oil and blind the camera. Problem is that it can be illegal, and so are those plastic covers for the plates. I have a gray smoked one on my car and never been pulled over but the packaging did warn that it may be illegal to use.

I just wanted to hear you guy's opinions. I didnt know they did this on mythbusters!

ZX5_Wombat, I have the same thing, to match my taillights. I wondered if I'd have issues with getting pulled over, but so far so good.

just take your license plates off and drive REALLY fast at all times. If a cop catches you, sucker punch him right off the bat to set the tone and let him know who's boss
