Focus vs Z06???

I was talking with my buddy the other night and he tells me of a post on his Mustang Forum where somebody asked what it would take to make a Mustang GT as fast on a road course as a new Z06. The answer was a laundry list of parts, full suspension, more power, tube chassis, etc… I made some comment to my buddy about any car can be that fast with enough money. Now my stock SVT is faster than his lightly modified Mustang GT 5 spd. on the track and that got me thinking. So my question to you FF-ers, Is it possible to make a Focus as quick as a new Z06 on a road course and have it still me somewhat street legal/drivable? Lets pretend money is not a issue, realistically what would it take if possible?

a list of real parts would be sweet

Talk him into swapping cars and see if you beat your own Focus with his Mustang. The deciding factor on the track is often driver skill rather than hardware.

I'm faster than my friend's mustang GT 5 speed. Canyon roads without the juice, drag strip and road course with the juice.

Actually the stock SVT focus is faster through a slalom than a corvette.

^Yes it is, and pulls just as many g's.

The issue with making the focus that fast is will it still be able to corner with that much power, and then be able to hook coming out. I've seen the video of Toms turbo SVT on a road course with some pretty fast cars and he was getting by them, but the new z06 with 505 hp is pretty nasty. I got to drive a c5 z06 and it was fast enough for me at 405 hp.......

well, you could make about 400 whp and be faster, IF you converted it to RWD and did as much weight reduction as possible!!! then it would depend on the course cause the corvette has different gearing.

I would say a solid turbo setup, LSD and Clutch, bigger brakes on the front (I know ours are good, but once you up the hp, you need bigger binders), remove the rear seat, coil-overs, sways, and you'd be pretty close
