Drove the Fiesta!

Now I thought those of you that haven't might be interested in knowing what its like compared to the Focus.

When I first saw it, its small! Well not really THAT small.. I parked next to it and found that if you chopped off my sedan's trunk right under the rear window it would be the same length as the Fiesta. But once I was inside it's quite comfy and spacious. Granted when I took a peek to look at the backseats that actually was smaller and looked smaller. I sat in the back and it was kinda cozy. My head was about to touch the headliner with about an inch or so to spare. I'm ~5' 10". But it's perfect in the front.
I drove the 5 door hatch with the 4sp auto w/ manumatic shifting. Dunno what it is but even though its a 4 speed, the tranny felt pretty good. I *think* its better than the one I have in my Focus.
I was told that the auto one has a different engine and that this one had less power than the manual Fiesta. Even with that, I felt that it was peppier and quicker than my focus. Played with the shifting too, gives you something extra to play with
I think my favorite part was the inside. I love the feel and comfort of it. The dash area was strangely roomy and the seats were perfect. The Fiesta's seats fit me better than the Focus seats. The Focus seats seem like they were designed for ahem.. fat people.. Things were placed in the perfect spots for me; the door arm rest with the handle was not as far away in my seating position.
It handles the same if not better than the Focus. The steering is pretty good. A tad lighter than my Focus but pretty good.
I was shown whats under the hood, it's not a wirey mess under there! Still not perfect but much better. There is an open spot above the engine for turbos! So maybe there will be a turbo?

You also get a free card with the Fiesta and stuff on it. You can go to the site and download the free 8 songs it gives you. It's like the Fiesta Movement playlist

I find it perfect the way it is. Lets just hope they don't have to modify it too much for the US spec ones..
The Fiesta has nudged itself up my list to become my next car. I will have to see what the upcoming Focus is like before I decide..

Those of you that haven't driven one yet, go find one and

pics or it didn't happen! lol just kidding. that's awesome how roomy they are, that's a good selling point--small car with lots of interior space...and it's a fun drive eh?

Well of course it's got less room than the Focus due to its smaller size but it's pretty good for what it is. You don't feel cramped at all.

I didn't measure but if you had me estimate the hatch's trunk space before you fold down the seats; I'd say maybe it was half my sedan's trunk space. But then maybe in cubic feet it's probably about the same because it's a hatch. Once you fold down the seats though you get a whole bunch of more space. The bottom pad of the seat can be taken out to make them fold flat

So how did you get the opportunity to drive one?

I was wondering about the interior myself, it looks nice in the pictures, is the material quality decent? There seems to be very few cars/trucks these days (that are affordable, anyway) with an interior that is not hard ass cheap plastic.

I wanted to test drive one the whole damn time so I kept checking the test drive tab at www.fiestamovement.com and finally they had something nearby. The film festival in Providence, RI.
I went and answered some questions, gave them my license and away I went.

They told me this one will have different materials than the one that we will get later. The material is better than my 09 Focus's stuff in my judgement. The soft dash and stuff.
I also sat in a 2010 Fusion the other day and if you compare the 2 soft dashes the Fusion one is so much better. But then again the Fiesta costs less, and at least it's soft. Unlike my hard plastic one.
But if I had to say, I'd say it's more upscale than the Focus interior. It did have some plastic bits here and there though, no biggie. Maybe it'll be different? Who knows.

Even if these were cheap materials, they certainly do not look like the regular cheap ass hard plastics you are talking about. Everything in the car feels solid. When you close the door it clunks shut like a heavy door rather than the light tink! noise you get from those hollower thin doors and even the hood is not some sort of flimsy thin material. It has a nice healthy heavy slam to it. lol

I forgot to mention, the keyless system with push button start is win.
You don't get that with the other sub compacts, do you?
