Unhappy Question about 03 Focus

First off, hi :)

Second, I love Focus'. I've loved them ever since I first drove my '03 Focus 3 years ago. Here's the thing though, I'm brand new to the modding scene, so I'm still trying to figure out what to start on, what to get all of that stuff. My main concern is not wasting my money, as I don't have an IMMENSE amount of disposable income.

So here's my deal: I literally JUST dropped about $2.5k on a brand new transmission / alternator / various electrical problems on my '03 focus, however it still seems to have electrical problems and it looks like the interior as well as various parts of the exterior are literally falling off. The driver belt buckle literally broke in half a couple days ago, the plastic surrounding the passenger side back door handle literally fell off, numerous plastic trim on the exterior of the car by the windows look like they're coming out, alarm randomly goes off if locked at night sometimes, driver side lock does not work due to a shop back in my hometown screwed my eletrical over, etc. etc....

So my options are: Fix up the various things that are going on with it and THEN mod it, or trade it in and buy a newer model focus. (Like 2005+ I think, or a 2004 zx)

What are your guys' opinions? Would most of this stuff be easy to fix, or will it just keep happening after I mod it and require constant maintenance? I like the look of body kits for 2000 - 2004 focus' because they're so unique and plentiful... Is this the same case with the newer ones (2005-2007, 2008+)?

Honestly if your car has a lot of electrical problems you'd be better off just getting rid of it and starting with a solid one. You don't want to pour money into something that's just going to have something else go wrong a week later.

Then again that's just my opinion.

That's what I was leaning towards as well. I really like the car and with the new Transmission it's running like a champ, but the electrical is just too much. When I got the car back from the show that screwed the electrical the headlights were like reversed, high beams were on when they werent suppose to be, when I tried to turn them ON it would go to low beams, driver side lock didn't work, as well as the cigarette lighter. I've gotten them all fixed except for the lock now.

Well in that case I'd definately sell it and look for a 5spd. You'll have a much harder time making an auto focus quick.
