Hey all, need opinions on exhaust and intake

Hi All,

New to the forum! Just looking to get some general opinions on some parts, I just bought a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4 and I'm looking to start working on it.

Has anyone had any experience with Magnaflow exhaust kits?

I was also looking at some cold air intakes, and I am not sure if K&N is the way to go or AEM.

Any opinions or thoughts would be great!

Cheers!

K&N is always a good one, So is AEM, any mandrel bent exhaust will work, what you are paying for is the sound

Thanks for the response! I am not looking for too much performance mainly just a good low tone on the car. I have youtubed a lot of different exhaust systems and so far the magnaflow seems to sound the best.

Look into MBRP. I LOVE the sound of it. if you want a good sound from the exhaust just make sure the muffler is under the car and not at the end(Fart can style).

Yeah, the Magnaflow and the K&N or AEM will make your car sound realllll nice. And I'm sure you'll enjoy the little bit of performence boost also

Welcome BTW

Your talking quite a bit of money! There are cheaper exhausts with good reviews.

Depends on your budget and what if any mod plans you have for the future...NA, SC, turbo etc. no need to buy the same parts twice (been there done that). Take your time, think what do you want your car to be (mod wise) in a year, two years. Basically map out a plan.

Other than that I am biased I would suggest looking at Borla and Pipercross but the others mentioned are contenders as well....next on the list header, hiflo cat/ORP and flex to finish out the exhaust

AEM doesn't make an intake for the Duratec yet. Unless that has changed in the last 4 months. Personally, I LOVE my FocusSport CAI. Easy install. Great sound too. Another one people like is the Steeda intake.

As for exhaust. I have the Trubendz flex back exhaust with a Magnaflow muffler and catalytic convertor. I got the 2.5". Sound is excellant as well. I highly recommend it.
