No matter....the little cars are still safer than cycles of all sorts. Plus you don't get wet. But I wonder what are the big people going to do......you know the ones who take up two seats on airplanes.

What's likely to happen.....soon you'll start seeing bigger and bigger "Smart" cars.

Wouldn't say ever made, but vs the tanks on the road today, yes to an extent.

The thing most fail to fathom is that if the automobile had gone down a path of smaller and more economical in the first place the stigma that follows a little car would not be present. The vast majority have no clue how speed and weight play a part in a crash. They assume that the more metal around them the safer they will be. This can be the case, but in doing so you may risk the lives of those around you.

Maybe SMART is trying to lead by example. If others follow suit and the monster cars start to be phased out . . .

Thats the main thing about safety. The smart car isn't an unsafe car by itself, head on collision with an escalade yeah. But two smart cars crash into each other or a fiesta vs smart car. Everyone will probably make it out alive and save fuel while doing it.
