new car purchase,cruise control?

What year did the Focus have cruise as standard equipment? What models? I am looking at the 2000-2004 sedans.

Anything in particular I should be weary of? 150k miles or less.
What about timing belt?
Brakes (pads and rotors)pretty simple job?

I am mechanically inclined and do most of my own repairs. I currently own a 91 accord with 240k miles. Rear main seal is going and I am not putting the time into repairing that.

Any input for a Focus noobe?

The lower end ones like SE and LX probably will have less likelihood to have them, your best bet is probably the ZTS. I wasn't aware it was standard on any models but I got my car used.

Brakes are easy. Timing belt is good for 100k by the book. Pretty easy to do just about anything on a 16v Zetec motor. Don't have any experience with the 8v SPI.

I second looking for a ZTS if you want a Sedan. And the timing belt needs to be changed by a certain millage (I can't remember what it is.) I've heard bad stories about them breaking and the entire engine being shot.

For the '00-'04 model sedans, the ZTS came with cruise. It was optional on the SE. I'm not sure if it was even available on the LX.

For '05-'07 models, cruise was an option on SE models, standard on SES and ST models. It was unavailable on the S model.
