Just bought a ZX3!!!

Today I purchased my first ford focus zx3. It is a 2003 5spd with 60k miles on it. I'm not sure if this is the rite place for this but I was looking for some feedback on what some good performance upgrades for this vehicle were. From looking around the forum it seems like a cold air intake and some kind of a chip upgrade? are the most popular.

Thanks

Do the handling first:

SVT shocks/springs
Eibach sways front and rear
17x7 rims

If you really want a good intake, the SVT intake is the best for non-turbo. Also, look at a Borla exhaust upgrade.

Then, save for a turbo.

Congrats and to the board.

I would suggest tht you look at this part of the board b/c most likely that you have this type of engine called the Zetec http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=39

cheaps mods that you can do:

lunch box delete : I.E. cutting off the resonator that is after the rear wheels... it gives our car a little better sound and its a good mod when you cant afford a true exhust.

cut the stock antenna in half or shorter to get rid of the long mother ship antenna

The mods that I did are as follows:

upgraded the suspension to Ford Racing --lowered the car 1.5"
Darker tint
lunch box delete
cut the stock antenna
new wheels

there are alot of mods to do........ just look around and you wont be able to stop

hope I helped

What engine do u have? 03 was the first year of the 2.3 Duratec, you might be one of the lucky few to have one of these gems.

For performance mods the best things to start out with is an intake and exhaust and a tune. Until you have those 3 don't do anything else as far as power goes.

CoNgrats man, intake is very popular, (there's a reason - few bucks for lots of fun) but you should decide now rather than later if FI (turbo) is something you're interested in because otherwise you're wasting your time doing intake headers etc. Browse around, there are endless amount of mods, a ton that are 5, 10, 20 bucks. Good luck!
