95 mazda b2300 should I buy this thing?

Looked @ a '95 mazda b2300 3.0 v6. 5 speed broken A/C and broken gas gauge. Owner claims she does not know what is wrong with A/C. Truck has 150,000 miles, but engine was rebuilt ~ 30,000 miles ago. Should i pull the trigger @ $1500. Other than that it drives ok but the steering seems to be a bit loose. I have an 01 Focus with 120,000 and was going to buy this as a backup/ when I needed a truck. Don't know if it's worth this though due to a lot of unknowns and my car being in good shape. Am I getting myself trouble that I do not need?

Personally i would shoot for a beater ranger myself. Ive had three of them and havnt really had any problems out of any. But i mean if its not going to be a DD and only be used when you need a truck i say go for it. Doesnt really seem like to bad of a deal but i bet you can find something better for that price.

Early Philosophy; if the owner doesn't know about there vehicles problem, don't make it your problem.

X2. But if you're deadset about buying this one, take it to a mechanic you trust. It's worth $50 to and to him, if he finds everything wrong with it. Please do this, I've seen so many people buy cars and get so far underwater with their problems.

At that mileage it could just need to be recharged. I am +1 for taking it to a mechanic first. But for 1500 it sounds decent. I would if I were looking for a truck.

Why was the engine rebuilt?

The price is too much for something that is 14 years old. The most I'd pay for a clunker like that is $800, and that would be a stretch. Let someone else purchase it.

Why was engine rebuilt? I drove my ranger to 165k and everything worked GREAT! But I also took care of it. I bet you douchebag drove like 20k miles on the same oil and burned the bearings. I'd take it in and have people do the once over. But its not uncommon for rangers to go 300k with minor maintence.
