Question

since this is a general car chat i want to talk classic full size muscle car my father is the owner of a 1968 Ford Galaxie XLGT convertible Red w/the gold stipe, now its not finished we only have the front clip done i just want to see how many people know of them or know sombody who has one,im talking XLGT convertible, fasbacks are more common my,grandfather also has a XLGT convertible but his is balck w/ the gold stripe. My grandfather has a thing for galaxies though he has a red 63 and a white 64 as well so i just want opinions or input on the 68' xlgt convertible i myself would like to know the rarity of these too if your educated on these.

If my memory serves me correctly, the coupe and sedan were the most common, the fastback was the hot rod and the rag top was the cruiser. In the 60s, the rag tops were a common breed across all models of Fords. To get the rare ones, there would have to be specific packages or combination of packages, but I am not sure of the exact numbers. My car of choice was the Cougar.

Well with the XLGT package and stripe packages i know that the convertibles were less common then the fastbacks.

I can't seem to see the pictures, probably because I don't have a MySpace account. I waste enough time each day on here and on FaceBook :)

Those sound like great cars. The value any any classic muscle car has been increasing. I think a lot of that is due to Barrett-Jackson.

The 500XL with the bucket seats and console ('horseshoe shifter', right?) is rare. The 'GT' option package is VERY rare. I was at a huge classic Ford show in Buena Park, Ca. a couple of months ago. About 1,500 Fords of all types (but only 6 Foci.....!!!) There were a few 500XL's - mostly 63's and '64's. i don't recall seeing a '68 GT.

I'd get that thing finished pronto........

The Galaxie Club can probably help you, too.....
