2009 SES Coupe...Is the leather worth it?

Hello again! Iím still trying to hash out the facts on the 09 coupe before making my final decision to buy one. As of right now, I've got the color down to either blue or black (I'm leaning more towards the blue though), and I wanted all the options (except leather) with a black interior and a 5-speed. The only thing is that I can't seem to find ANY coupes that are fully loaded and also have cloth in either of those colors. Now I've never owned a vehicle with leather seats, and I'm not sure that I want to start...BUT I must say that the pictures that I've seen of the 09 coupe's leather seats do look pretty DAMN nice. So, if those of you who do have leather seats in your 08 or 09 coupes could you please post up with your opinions of them (good or bad)? Thanks a ton!

i test drove an 08 with leather and it was okay. the leather was of good quality and seemed like it would wear well. the rear seats leather did feel plasticy but that may be because no one ever say in them so they never stretched or anything.

My 08 Focus has cloth seats so I canít say for sure, but on my 06 Freestyle, the rear seats (at least the 3rd row) are plastic that looks like leather. It might be the same for the Focus rears also.

My sister has an '09 SES with leather... it is 100 times better than the leather on the previous model years. Smells and feels expensive and looks like it will wear well. It's comparable to the leather in her husband's Escape Limited (2008), and that has worn well so far. Also, the stitching looks expensive too... very nice touch.

By the way, she traded an '08 SE (with cloth) for the '09 (long story), so I feel like I can make a pretty good direct comparison. I would choose the leather over the cloth every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I test drove and SEL sedan that had black leather. It was very nice, seemed of good quality. My 09 coupe has cloth though. Being that you are not in a hot climate you should be ok with the leather. I hate leather in Arizona...my Olds has it and everytime I get out, my butt and back are drenched! lol But that's life in the desert.

Hey, thanks for all of the replies! Keep 'em coming though. I'm going to try to stop by the dealer tonight, after work, to check out an SEL that has leather. It turns out that the dealer can get ahold of either a blue or a black SES coupe loaded (with leather), but they'd have to do a dealer swap to get them (one's in Pennsylvania and the other is in New Hampshire).

However, in the process of performing my own search, I have found one EXACLY like I want (with cloth seats), but it's in red. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not completely against the red...it's just not my first choice. So now I'm torn between getting the color that I want (with leather), or a color that I'm just ok with (with cloth). What do ya think??

It depends on what attribute is more important to you. If having cloth seats is more important than the exterior color then go for the red model with cloth seats. If the exterior color is more important go with the blue or black model with leather.

Agreed. I have a '03 ZTW with leather. There is absolutely no leather smell, and I've seen vinyl that looks like better leather than this. At an auto show I sat in a '08 Focus with leather and I was impressed. Not only was the leather of a much higher quality, the seats were obviously of a more expensive construction, and more comfortable as well.

Talk to the dealer. In my case I wanted a 2009 SES sedan, blue, all options except leather/heated seats, and also a build date after January 09. (The Focus built after January 09 has the outside temperature gauge, compass, and remote trunk release button, earlier versions don't).

The dealer looked it up on his computer and found one... but they had to go 140 miles out of state to pick it up. They made a dealer trade and drove it back. When I took delivery it was exactly as I wanted. It did have 142 miles on it though. They may be able to find one closer for you.

I got an 2009 SES Sedan fully loaded with leather seats and I get a lot of compliments on how it looks. Why do cloth! Leather is sexy baby! I just use leather wipes once in awhile to keep the leather from drying and it stays nice!
