OMG, This 2009 has a trunk release button!!

I was at the dealership today with my girlfriend, as she was looking at a new Focus. We were in an SE, and Im just sitting there and notice something.... there is an added button on the drivers side left foot kick panel. Wait a minute... THATS A TRUNK RELEASE!!! We were with the same guy that I bought our 2009 from, and was like, WTF ours doenst have that!!! He said he hadnt seen one either. I was amazed.... I dont have a pic of it, but if there is enough demand, I might go back and get a pic. However I do have this...

Its right in this location. They must have added it later. The kick panel looks exactly the same, except there is a button there now that has a picture of a trunk popped open. I had to press it, and it worked. It felt sooooo good.

Dumb location though, lol.

Also, it had the buttons for a sunroof, but no sunroof. THAT was really strange, lol.

2008 and some 2009 models do not have a trunk release because they figured people would use the key fob (for those who got remote keyless entry) to open the trunk. in 2009 they started build #2 (february i think) and those are the models with the trunk release button and some even haev a compass and exterior temp display.

since the trunk release is electronic on 08-09 models (i dont know about earlier foci) it wouldnt be hard to wire in a release button and put it anywhere you wanted to...

Yep... mine came with the trunk release button. I didn't know some didn't have them. Although, I did request a Focus with a build date of January 09 or later because I wanted to have the outside temperature gauge. Looking further, I see in the 09 brochure that where it says it comes with a trunk release button there's an * that states "winter of 08"

Check the build dates on the drivers door jam.

I don't see the temperature gauge or compass in that pic.

all foci have electronically released trunks, seems retarded that they didn't have a button inside on the 08s...

the Buick Rendezvous i drove during driver's ed was the same way and it drove me nuts!

At least one of those would be in your rear view mirror. My f150 has a compass up there. The temperature gauge in my f150 is on the same display as my A/C controls (which are digital, not knobs like the focus has)
