Angry Got my first scratch

Well, this morning I got my first scratch, and a bad one at that. I was parking at school this monring and since I have late arrival, I don't gotta be in until 10am and the parking lot was mostly full. I found a spot, I kinda thought it might be tight and then as I'm bringing it in... *bam* It rubbed with one of the other car's bumpers. Luckily no damage to the other car, it was older with a real bumper.

On the front bumper on the right side. I'm not sure what I'll do... it is the only cosmetic defect on the car. I'm probably going to swing by a body shop today after work and see how much it would cost for them to fix it.

It is only about 4 inches long, and it scraped all the way down to the plastic/metal so I'm hoping not very much. If it is more than I want (or can) spend I'll have to find another way of fixing it. Does anyone know if Ford sells like little bottles of touch up paint? I might have to settle with that. Unless anyone has any other ideas.

I'll post a picture as soon as I can.

yah they sell touch up paint :) go to u'r dealer and get it :) I'm lucky I got a bottle free when I bought the car ;) too bad it has several scratches on it now! 1st one was 1 week after I got it someone keyed my hood! ARG! I'm still pissed about that...I am gonna bring it in to get waxed and see if they can buff it out cause it aint under the clear coat I don't think...well hopefully or I'm stuck like that till I get the new hood!

Yep, after not driving for two months last year (out-of-town) I got home ready to drive my Baby! And BAM! ran into the garage. So, I know what it's like. In fact, your scratch seems small enough and not too deep, that you can go to Pep Boys or AutoZone and get that liquid product that literally erases the scratch. (it's basically a paint thinner but soo diluted so no harm is actually done to your car) Used to use it all the time on the bumper.

Touch up paint might look kind-of bulky or home-made, try using the scratch-out first.

Or you can just pull an insurance "claim"! Run the whole car into a wall sideways, park it in the front of your house/apartment, let it sit overnight, wake-up, look at it, act suprised, call your insurance company, and there ya go...all new custom body work!
Just kidding

Well, I went to the body shop. $100 for them to re-paint it. The scratch went all the way under past the primer coat. The person there had my paint code in stock and was able to dab a little along the scratch and it doesn't look so bad now. I think I might try some scratch-out on it cuz if I can make it look almost like new then it would be great relief to me since 100 bucks will probably set back my cat-back I wanted to get a paycheck. I'll probably go by AutoZone then on my way to work tomorrow.

Look at AutoZone for Dupli-Color spray paint, too. I think it says Truck Van and SUV touch-up or something like that... if you look at the sticker on the back of the can it will say FORD (name) and then a letter or two... check your driver's door for the letter code and if the scratch-out doesn't work the Dupli-Color may. I bought some the other day it looks/matches great!
