O.K. My friends check engine light came on so he took his focus to autozone to get a free emmissions test. the print out sheet says-
TROUBLECODE OBDII (ALPHA) P CODE
TROUBLESHOOTING P0401
The pcm has determined that there is insufficient flow in
the exhaust gas recirculation system.

are you still under warrantee? I do beleive the emisoion system is warranteed for 100k, no matter what the year is. Something for you to check into. If not, you could pull the EGR off and check it to make sure it isn't all carboned up in the passages.

It is the Delta Pressure Feedback Sensor. Ther are two vacuum hoses coming off the main EGR tube running to it. It is black and square shaped. It is notorious for going bad on the Focus, but is cheap to replace. Check some place like: www.fordnewparts.com

(look up pressure feedback sensor under the the search for the Focus model you have, then: Emissions system---EGR System). I think it is $54.
