Unhappy Just wrecked my focus...

Actually I wrecked it about a week ago but I the feelings of the sadness were just coming through me.. Anyway I dont have the money to repair it (broken axel from hitting the curb which deployed my airbags and broke the windsheild) thats gonna cost me 3k. Should I try and sell it or just go through a salvage yard?

Try and see if you can track down the parts for it. If you find out it's going to be a long easter egg hunt, do what you think you gotta do. Shit happens, doesn't mean you can get another later.

Good luck. Sorry for the loss, I guess we should be glad your airbags broke your windshield and not you.

Been there, done that. Buy a cheap $500 beater of some kind. Put your car on jackstands, get the Haynes manual (if you don't already), frequent ebay and the local salvage yards, and within six months, you'll have your baby back good as new. Then sell the beater for a price similar to what you paid for it. (that's the beauty of beaters).

At least, that's the approach I took when my 02 got wrecked back in 06. It took time, effort, love, and a bunch of learning - but I wouldn't trade it for anything. It needed a new steering rack, so I farmed that job out.

You can buy a set of airbags for less than $200 on ebay (have a shop install them), a windshield shouldn't be more than $250 from the local glass place (safelite), drive axle (maybe $200 used, if that via ebay), and the sundry body parts you may need. All tolled, with used and ebay parts, you should be able to get back up and running for under $1500 including labor. (assuming no frame damage)
