Ford considering Focus RS for U.S., NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!

I don't own a Focus, but I would definitely like to help galvanize what ever action is necessary to bring this amazing car over to the U.S.

From Motor Authority:

One such model is the recently launched Ford Focus RS – a 305hp (224kW) stunner based on the Focus hatchback sold overseas. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford’s director of advanced product creation and global performance, Hermann Salenbauch, said a U.S. launch of such a car would depend on the level of interest generated by local Ford fans, for example, Focus SVT owners.

Ford is looking for "feedback from the media and customers," Salenbauch explained. "How much do they like it? Is it really what they want? We are pretty confident that it is."

Unfortunately, even if it’s given the green light, the U.S. will have to wait until the next-generation of the car, which will be based on the new global-engineered 2011 Focus. Salenbauch revealed that the American version of the RS would be based on this new platform and would be assembled locally.

Incidentally, Salenbauch’s comments suggest that Ford is actually considering building a high-performance RS version of its next-generation Focus. Last month, reports emerged claiming the current Focus RS would be the last of its kind, but these latest comments go a little way towards discrediting them.

I want to say that's a Ford Europe press photo...but I can't remember for sure. It may be property of Edmunds, I don't know.

EDIT: I can now confirm it's just a Ford Europe press photo, not owned by Edmunds.

I read something about this on autoblog today. It said that Ford is really considering (yeah....heard it before...) bringing the Focus RS over with the next generation. If they do, awesome! Ford has done a lot with European designs/models the last few years, and with them bringing the Fiesta (boooo no ST or RS model) and the next gen Focus, RS could be a possibility. But at $30,000+....not many people I know would pay, I would, but I'm also a fan of the RS and its heritage. Plus, itd kill mustang sales and we all know the mustang rules the road here in the states (hah).

I'd seriously consider one for $25,000. I'd really consider it even if it only produced 250 hp. Just something to compete with the other "hot hatches" over here (the mini, GTI, and Mazdaspeed3). But yeah, not $30,000^. I'm sure a lot of others would agree with that too.

I want to help "act" like I'm supporting american growth by buying another Ford. But I would like to be able to point out good things about the car while doing that...

Right now I really feel embarrassed most times about my car :( Hard to find the good things about owning it.

^^^that'll be cool. I could hold off buying another car until this one comes over and I could put a nice down payment on it and have a $200 car payment... (we'll see, we'll see friends)
