Our stock zx3's have at least 130hp stock.
with what u have installed you should be more above that.
so it must not have dyno'd right. or something... and if you dont believe me here is my back up.

Something is definitely wrong there... like ^^^ said the stock is 130hp, so I don't know how you got 90. Either something is wrong with your car or whoever ran it on the dyno doesn't know what they're doing. Btw the Focus doesn't suck, nor is it slow for what it is... and it handles like its on rails.

He probably had his car dynoed for at the wheel horsepower. The stock 130hp that you see is horsepower at the flywheel. Which in translation means it will be about 96-104 at the wheel horsepower depending on the condition of the motor. Also a stock Civic hp number is at the flywheel as well and their torque sucks because of the VTEC on the motor. Increasing a motor by 52 whp you should have felt a bit of difference. Sounds like the only way you will be happy is if you boost it with a turbo or supercharging it. Though you would get more gains out of a turbo and you wouldn't get the lag if you got the right sized turbo set up. With a supercharger you see power right at the instant down in the lower ranges going all the way up but the downside to a supercharger is that you can't make the power of the turbo's. Boosting does have it's pros and cons as well as building up for NA. It's all depending on what you like and what you are wanting to do with the car. And as for the type of Focus to get, I would suggest getting the SVT since their internals are already forged and can take more power than the stock set up of the ZX3 etc... Again this is all just my opinion and as always-opinions are like a-holes..everyone has one. So the end result will end up going with what you think is best for yourself. What are you wanting? What power numbers are you looking at? What kind of racing do you want to do? Some applications work better for certain kinds of racing. Turbos are great for drag since the car is going to be in the high rev range most of the time anyways. But what you need is just weigh the factors of cost, dependability and other factors before making a final decision. Remember the more you boost the more likely something is going to break. So keep that in mind as well.

ok so the svt internals are forged didnt know that so thank you for that... do you know if the focus st with the 2.3 has forged internals and if it dosent would changing the internals to run boost safely be worth the extra money it would cost to do versus a svt with a turbo
versus svt engine

^^^ no to both questions. The 2.3 is not forged from the factory and it would not be money wise to do a 23d swap and forge it and run a boost set up on it. The SVT swap will... #1, be easier (easy is a very loose and relative term here..) and #2, it would be cheaper (cheap, like easy, is a very loose and relative term here..).

Remember, this is just MY opinion, and what I think isn't necessarily what everyone else thinks.... but in the end man, it's all up to you.

Good luck!
Daniel

ok so in your opinion if you could choose a 04 svt with 20,000 miles or a 07 st with 20,000 miles and both cars cost the same and you had 5000 grand to buy parts and you where going to boost it and customize it you would choose the svt all the way in your opinion?
