Zero percent financing on almost all models through June 1st

http://www.reuters.com/article/compa...52U5U920090331

General Motors Corp and Ford Motor Co introduced incentives modeled after Hyundai's Assurance Program On Tuesday, Both automakers would cover payments for a certain period of time if customers lose their jobs.

Following are details of the programs.

GM "TOTAL CONFIDENCE"

* Providing up to nine months of payments on vehicle loans or leases, up to $500 per month, if customers lose their jobs for economic reasons.

* Customers halfway through finance contracts are eligible for financing. GM provides negative equity assistance if outstanding loan balance is greater than the market value of the used vehicles.

* Program in addition to zero-percent financing and other customer incentives.

* Offer effective April 1 and will last through April 30.

FORD "ADVANTAGE"

* Covering payments for up to 12 months, up to $700 per month, if customers lose their jobs by the end of the year.

* Offer effective April 1 and runs through June 1.

* Zero-percent financing on almost entire vehicle lineup. Hybrids for the 2010 model year are excluded.

I'm looking to possibly replace my aging grand am with a focus in manual transmission. Every little bit helps, though I've heard they just compensate the low financing by raising the price.

Auto makers are hurting big time. They'll do just about anything to get people to buy cars at this point.

You can still get the shaft on cars. I offered 18,000 for a 2008 speed 3 and got DENIED! My buddy just bought a 2009 saturn outlook and they didn't drop the price a penny (don't know how hard he pushed).

I would think car dealers would drop prices more, but I really don't think they are.

They're still greedy as hell, that's why they aren't lowering their prices. It's the big guys on top though, the smaller guys just gotta try to meet their quota.

Too bad I don't have money lol...oh well. I doubt its offered on anything I would buy. Genesis coupe or the new 2010 Ford Mustang. I don't think you should be buying either if your low on cash and at risk of losing your job LOL. "But Mr. Salesmen, what better way to find jobs and not be late for interviews then with a really fast car"

I couldn't get a 3 hatch (non-speed 3) below $17k for a brand new 09...that was WITH $2500 cash back. Lets just say I walked out.

When I was looking for a car, my mom had mentioned to me the whole Hyundai program they're offering. It's just a matter of I didn't want to live with a car payment. Why more people don't get that concept is beyond me.

you always have to read the fine print, they aren't going to do anything that will cost them money, I went to like 3 dealers when I was looking for a new 08 since it was already a year old at that time, and I still got the same old run around, so the economy didn't seem to have any affect on them at all. Now mind you I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing, because in 03 I purchased a brand new one, walked into the place and said this is how the deal is going to go and they said ok (did that 2 different places) only one of the places had one that I liked so.... and I purchased it below their invoice price.

they gave me the whole employee discount sales pitch bs, and showed me their "invoice" on the computer instead of actually getting the paper copy which is what I made them do in my other dealings. So anyway I have not experienced any of this so called desperation of the auto sales businesses.

Doesnt matter what incentives they offer if they wont FINANCE anyone...
Or if your like me and got screwed into an overpriced focus (23k for a zx3 se, kmon.. NOW i see the mistake...) and are now upside down by 7000 they wont finance you either...
zero percent only with excellent-perfect credit i bet.. who has that nowadays?
The only offer i see being of any good use is the equity assurance so your not screwed if you decide to trade in/up 2 years later
