I am so disappointed, please tell me why!!

Ok, I am so excited to move to Austria, Europe
around the time that RS comes out.
so finally, ford.at has informationa about the new RS.
priced 39000 Euro 52,464.77 U.S. Dollars
I am like why! how can I afford it. which is fine... you know
maybe I work hard, I can have the car of my dream.
nothing better than a focus, and nothing better is RS...
nothing better than Mk2... and 305bhp.

but then I look at ford.de
they are selling it for 33,900 Euro 45,620.93 U.S. Dollars
why there are so much difference?

Tell me why...
I am just so disappointed...

It's the import taxes, VAT, and probably a few others that each country puts on the car, they differ from country to country in Europe.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, but if the price is lower in Germany, why not just buy the car in Germany and then drive it back to Austria? Is it like here in the U.S. where, for example, you can't buy a car in Mexico and then bring it here?

If the price is too high, wait for it to be a 2-3 year old used car, and buy a well-kept RS for the right price.

I believe you would still have to pay VAT and that would have to be paid before registering the car. Actually I think Nik00117 is the guy who may know for sure. Let him know about this thread and I'm sure he'll gladly answer it.

I talked to my wife and she refuesd it.
Said, her mom, my mother-in-law is accountant.
Who seen people buy cars from Germany to Austria.
But she said we have to still pay the local tax after the germany tax.
then for that little money we saved,
maintenance and warranty and other stuff could be difficult.
But that I would have to look into it when I am there.

Yes maybe I am a dreamer, since I don have a job and I have to move over there. But at least I won't have house payment or rent. Because we got our own house. So I still think it is reachable.

I just have to work hard and make my wife agree with a 2 Door
that has too much power in her book LOL!!

Yea, what are the differences in the saftey and emissions standards between the countries? Is there much at all, maybe you can just buy one in another country where its cheaper and drive it back.

Just get a 4-door ST - you'll be plenty happy with that (at least, I'D be happy with it), and so will the wife...

I would be happy too.
ST actually is more than enough I think.

But I am thinking about the subaru Impreza 2.0L AWD Non-turbo.
which have 150hp...
just because all the snow we will have in Austria.
make me feel safer with AWD...

Plus I never drove AWD, and have think about it all the time.

I understand.
don get me wrong. I love my focus (which already sold)
It just AWD is very tempting.

I want AWD but it doesn't have to be one.

What is good about AWD. how much better is AWD to FWD?
I know at least you can drift LOL
