nubby engine question

Ok lets say theres a 3.5 liter V6 engine and a 3.0 V6
and they are somehow made to produce the same horse power and torque

Since they both have the same horsepower and torque, is there any advantage the 3.5 has over the 3.0?

i would think if a 3.5l V6 and a 3.0L V6 made, lets say 250hp and 250 lb-ft of torque, the 3.0L would make these stats a little higher in its rev band than the 3.5L and that the
3.5L may be a bit more punchier off the line but the 3.0L would be a little more high strung. this is just crazy darryls theories tho theres no math or anything to back it up

nubby nubby nubby nubby nubby....

the high revs of the smaller engine would make it less pleasant to drive on the street. needing to rev it higher means you will not save much gas... it depends on the vehicle, but all other aspects of the two cars were equal i think the larger motor would be better all around, and possibly more efficient since it would not have to work as hard as the smaller motor.

Peak numbers are the worse numbers to compare. It's the area under the curve that matters ;) For all we know the 3.5 might make twice the low end torque of the 3.0 and have a fat and flat torque curve. The 3.0 could just be a peaky high rev motor and barely clear those numbers at redline.

So, if I haven't confused you, it's more about the whole picture, not just the peak numbers.

yep I get that part about not just the peak numbers

So if there would be a 4.0 V8 and a 4.0 V6 < what about that?

Got to think of Power to Weight, Breathing, some other things I can't remember of the top of my head.
