Euro to US

Are the European models (st,mk2,rs,etc.) of focus pretty much the same as the US models and if so which one is the equivelant to the zx3. It would really be nice to know.

And i hear rumors that the euro foci are going to be coming to the US next year, is this true? i really hope so.

We just call it a 3 door focus. However, everything in europe from 2005 onwards was based on the C2 chassis, which is coming to the US next year so post 2004 models are all different.

We all hope at least! And to amend that, the new global Focus (the Mk3 design) will be the one we get.

-Mk1 is the C170 chassis. Which ALL Focus to appear in the US are based on. 2000-2010.
-Mk2 was the C2 chassis. Which was the the base for the European Focus 2005-2009 (10?)
-Mk3 will be the next gobal variant. I know it has a designated chassis # now but I don't remember it.

If you are looking for direct comparisons (feel free to correct me if I get these wrong!); Our US Focus sedan is known as the 'Saloon' model in Europe. Our US Focus Wagon is known as the 'Estate' model in Europe. And while the 3-door hatch has many variations in the European market, the one closest to what we had in 2000-2004 was the European Focus 2.0 Zetec model I believe. Oh, and our SVT Focus is a transplanted European Focus ST170

Anything released in the US as a Focus during 2005-2010 has no real direct European Counterpart.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, that really helps. I dont see why ford just didnt keep the same names wether in europe or the US. oh well. The reason i original asked that is because i want to get a euro center console because the cup holders in my zx3 suck. There is no cup in the world that can fit in them. it stupid. does any one know where i could pick up a euro center console?

not too many placed to find them. FYI, '98-2001 Euro center consoles were the same as ours. 2002-2004 had a nice redesign. I bought mine from www.european-parts.net and had it shipped from Europe. I don't think there is any way to buy them here in the states.

Try fleabay. Looks like it'll cost you a fair bit to get it shipped but there's plenty on there.

If you are trying to put a McDouble-Ass-Biggy-Size drink in the cupholder near the dash, then yes, you will still have a problem with it fitting. But I can set a large Taco Bell cup in the cupholder between the seats just fine.

I was wondering what type of drinks you were gettings ... I know the medium drink fits fine in the cupholders and some of the new designs for Large cups are fitting too because of the small base of them ...
