New 09 5spd sedan SE, suggestions?

Well we bought ourselves a focus. Never thought I would own a ford but the wifey loves it and she really wanted a manual. I don't think ive given ford enough credit lately, the car is really starting to grow on me.

We bought the car under the assumption that the DEALER would install a sunroof for her, a FORD sunroof. Not the case, they had a "guy" that did the installs for them. So we decided to botch that idea and do a few things the car to make it a little more enjoyable to drive.

My first question is will all the chassis and suspension parts from an 08 work on an 09? I'm pretty sure they will, but some reassurance would be nice

We want to get her Eibach sportline's, and one of the concerns i had about these is if we are going to need any type of camber adjustment kit. I come from modding honda's, and all of them did.

Next would be a strut tower brace and rear sway bar. Is Steeda the only company that manufactures these items for our car? Ive looked but cant seem to dig up anything else.

Lastly we want to get her a sri, most likely steeda's, then possibly an exhaust. Should i even bother grounding the tb? (Seems to be a controversial topic here).

We arent looking at making the car fast, we just want to make it feel and sound a little more sporty for her. Any other suggestions to make the car more fun to drive would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for all your input.

I'm not sure if theres a drop for the 08 or 09s, maybe the Ford Racing Kit, ask Mike (b16....) he works for Ford and can help you out. Check out Focus Sport for parts as well, most of their duratec bolt ons should work for the 08 and 09. Welcome.

Does your sedan have a rear sway bar? I thought only the SES models came with them anymore. That would really wake up the handling of the car, but you're going to have to look to a company like Steeda for a sway bar add-on kit. Basically the mounts will have to clamp around your rear cross member.

I'd suggest suspension mods first. If you go with ANY aftermarket springs, be sure to get dampers to go along with them, or you'll blow your stock ones real fast. Other than that, the Duratec motor responds pretty well to an intake and header/exhaust.

08 Sedan with H&R SP Coilovers (before & after pics)

there is a link to another members 08 suspension build. the 08 and 09 are the same suspension as far as i know.

steeda SRI is great! the 08 09 cars respond to them very well.

gournding the TB, dont bother.

hope that helps.

Grounding the throttle body didn't do anything for throttle response really, but it DID smooth out my RPM's on idle. Worth it for $2 mod.

When you ground the TB, you want to run other grounds as well. The grounds that you would do are the negative battery to chassis ground, chassis ground to TB, and fuel rail to chassis ground.

Welcome to FF!!

Check out all of our vendors, there are quite a few, and they do have lots of parts for the FF. We also have a specialized Suspension forum where you can get a specialized answer.

I'm more of a "repair the suspension" specialist than modification, although I have a few suspension mods I'm going to try to do this week while I'm not working.

Best wishes!
Alex
