Never heard of that before. I don't have a tach, and I seriously doubt that is true at all. The only engine I've ever NOT been able to rev high was an old Ford 300 straight six. With a 1bbl carb. Rated at 110 CFM. With 285K+ on the 'who knows if it's right' odometer. But, those engines never did rev at all anyways.

But uh...who knows I guess. I've only had mine up to 5k. Never had a reason to try any higher! I'm used to driving vehicles with actual 'real' torque and not a cracker box so I tend to keep it under 3k.

The (US) Focus has a rev limiter programmed into the ECU, which retards the timing to keep the car from exceeding the red line.
However, this would not keep you from mechanically exceeding the limit, ie taking it up to 80 mph in 5th gear and shifting to first still results in little pieces of your engine and transmission scattered up and down the road...

I've had mine up to redline (definitely not on purpose) once, all it does is basically just "shudder" the car, and you can't go any faster until you shift.
