my car was backed into last night

so last night were leaving the club about 2am and were waiting on some friends that rode with me to find the car and out of the blue this cavalier just comes slamming into my front drivers side fender in reverse. the car pulls up and looks like he is about to bolt so i jump out of my car and run out in front of him cussing and i realize i know the boy he is from the same town as me. he realized he knows me and if he doest stop the car when he gets back to town his ass is as good as beat down. so he stops the car and opens the door and starts begging me to just go somewhere else to talk because theres like 5-6 cops walking the lot looking for drunks getting behind the wheel so i was like bullshit! i dont give a crap dude im sober as a judge and you hit me! im dead sober because i dont drink but the boy in the cavalier had been drinking and didnt want the cops involved because he was scared of goin to jail but his ass didnt need to be driving anyway so thats on him. so anyway the cops heard the crunch and walked over and got both our liscences and ins cards and also got him on tape saying he was going to pay out of pocket to fix the damage or else they would use his ins information or his girlfriends cuz thats whose car they were in. it was probobly her parents because she was all of about 19. so anyway after that i got all his info and his girlfriends info and so the cops had him on tape and his info on tape and i agreed that if his sober girlfriend drive home i would just get an estimate of the damages and he could pay for it out of pocket, if not i would go to the cops and get the tape and go after his insurance to pay. so being that i know the kid and its a small town i agreed because he knew i was about to blow my top and both of us were gonna go to jail, him for dui and me for whipping his ass. anyway i just so happened to work at a good body shop a few years back and have some good friends that are gonna write me a fat estimate so im prolly gonna get my dented hood fixed bumper repainted from the sun damage wheels painted, he broke a tab on my mach headlights that they dont make anymore so we will see if thats repairable or not because if not i feel for his wallet those arent cheap and they are hard to find. the fender needs replacing, i cant tell if the core support is bent or not, the car needed an alignment but he is gonna buy that now so we will see how it all goes. just thought id share my shitty night with everyone. oh and a fifth of red label was spilled in my backseat by the drunks i was babysitting so i gotta go out there today and try to clean that up.

I think you made the right move. I have 0 tolerance for drunk driving, I rarely drink but if I have any more than 2 I won't even start my car. Awesome the cops got his confession on tape saying he'll pay. I may have missed it but did he end up with a DUI?

You really shouldn't post online what you're getting fixed not caused by the accident. That's if you expect him to pay for it. Also inflating the damage cost. You never know who's watching.

I actually had some drunk hillbillies in a rusted out exhaust backfiring "redneck mobile" pick-up truck smash a beer bottle right into my drivers side mirror about 3 years ago! I ran after da coksukas but I've only got 2 legs u kno bastards drove away real quik too just as me and two buddys were chilling on their porch @ nite so i couldnt get their plate # plus they had a massive head start & i wasn't about to risk da whole car going after em: you win some you lose some... so be glad that ur getting this resolved man

On top of this, while I can imagine your frustration with your car being hit and then needing to deal with all that stupid crap that comes with accidents, you don't have the right to inflate costs.

He should pay for exactly what he did and not a cent more, nor less. If your wheels need freshening up or this and that, that's on you man. Seriously, be a man and do the right thing.
