Weight Issue/Trip Issue

So I've decided to drive my trip, sell everything large and go. I checked my drivers side door which says max 827lbs. The problem I'm having is that everything weighs so much! It's annoying.

Is there anyway to increase the amount of weight we carry, should I even try?
The people are both trying to lose weight lol but in a month the best we might get is another 20lbs in cargo...

Also how should we distribute the weight? Middle? Back? Sides? Equal all over?

We're going in for a tune up the week before. Anything we should have fixed/changed/looked at specifically? It's a 5000km drive.

Thanks :)

is your car ATX or MTX?

a few basics i would do. change the oil, fuel filter, the plugs, make sure all the fluids are topped off, 4 wheel alignment, balance all the tires, make sure the spare tire is inflated to the proper psi. the rest would depend on the mileage of your car.

Just take it easy going up large hills. Try not to push the car and dog it.

Let the engine work at its own pace.

wow... this sounds fun... am I even going to make it!!? - I am kind of serious with that question ;)

It's an automatic 102000km so about 63500 miles. We're moving. He just got new springs in about 2 months ago.

I was planning on the tire checks, fluid replacements, etc. but will do the spark plugs also - what do they do?

another question: how long can I drive before I should give him a rest? I want to go 12 hours a day - can it be done? Should it be done?

I still need a car when I arrive there.....

spark plugs ignite the air/fuel mixture, no spark, engine don't run. over time they can get week and should be changed.

yeah youll make it, I dove my focus with 17" rims, which has no clearance to Michigan fully loaded, basically everything I owned minus my motorcycle, did a 12 hour leg one day and another 6 hours the next day and it was fine. Just dont drive so long you get tired or anything, pack some snacks and water and drive safe.

um I hope you ment 6350 miles not 63500, if it's all up hill you might have a problem
I'm paranoid so I'd bring some extra fluids of all sorts just in case, I would think the biggest things to keep an eye on are the temp gauge and oil light, you may want to just check the fluids when you stop for gas, food or whatever, 12 hours straight wow, everyone going to wear diapers?

oh get yourself a tire pressure gague they are cheap, best of luck.
