Chevrolet Cavalier Help

MY girlfriends 00' 2.2 cavalier is having trouble starting and it sounds like its skipping a beat. Also, the check engine light just turned on the last time that she went to start it and it stalled. Finally, at cruising speed I can feel the engine miss occasionally.

Any ideas anyone? I was thinking about starting with plugs and wires, however, i figured I would ask if anyone has run into a similar problem.

Thanks,

Matt M.

Try this forum....

http://www.j-body.org/

This is a good place to get some info... But, have you changed the fuel filter? Also, check the batteries terminals and cables.. I also have a 2000 sunfire 2.2 and I know that the battery cables do corrode and cause starting problems. Also, I believe that is a recall on GM sunfire/cavalier models for start problems that involves the installation of an additional relay...

a cavalier with problems? say it isnt so! LoL i am sorry that was kind of an ass statement to make. But like the guys say plugs and wires would be where i would start along with the terminals and getting the code read.

had the same problem with my ranger and it was the injectors. but it could be a bad or duty EGR valve or even an O2 censer mot reading right. also could be a timing belt jumped a tooth

but i would check the plugs first just looking at them could tell you a lot

but like they said ^ - plug , plug whirs or cap rotor or all 3

1) I know its a cavalier. I didn't pick it out! plus we are looking to trade it in soon....

2) no cap and rotor. has coil packs.

3) I changed the plugs and wires today. we shall see if that helps!
