Angry bend over and do me mechanics

first quote on motor swap $1500-..... 1000 for motor with 43k, $ 500 labor
call today see how my car is doing?
guy said motor got there, but the valve cover is bad and oil pan is bad, so were going to use ur old one, no big deal, then i ask hey do you want me to order the timing belt kit now? he says oh i ordered it for you, OK no biggie.
and then it happens, oh ya our salvage yard wants $250 for the core i say wha what??? i never agreed to this, then he says the motor cost 1,100, so i say wow a magical another $350 oh and instead of 43k its 53k on the motor.
and he say i dono maybe you can talk to the yard to get a lower price.

i feel like they r trying to take me for $350 what should i do?

Not sure what the law is there but here in CT they need your authorization if the price goes over that of original estimate before performing the repairs. I can find that law on the CT DMV's website, maybe you have something t protect you as well?

oh I know this feeling, they quoted me $4100 at the dealership to replace my spi so I told them the kidney fund would be picking it up the next day and I'll come later and buy a new car lmao

Well you can take it, or call the business burea, or do the work yourself and save close to $500...no sarcasm but you could spend that 500 dollars the mechanic is charging you and buy a sweet set of tools, and you will know the job is done right, plus switching a motor is easy, its when you get into the internals you have to know a bit more.

i agree with Weldman0730 just buy a bad @$$ set of tools and it would save you from the mechanic from raping you along w/ having the ability of working on your car later if need

^^^ Said to tell you guys, but that will do NOTHING....I am a member of the BBB, and they keep a tally of who is good and who is not, but they have NO enforcement ability.

^^^ Just go in, talk to the owner like a man, and try to work out a agreement in the middle.
