Girlfriend Car Trouble

My girlfriend has a 2001 Cavalier Z24 with the Quad 4, and it has a random misfire code, what do you think the problem could be?

Plugs were replaced couple of months ago.
Tried a different coil housing and coils, and nothing changed.

bunch of things it could be, plugs, wires, coil

also could be wires from the coil becoming loose, damaged, etc..

do you have a specific code that was given?

The quad 4 doesn't use wires, it uses a coil housing with copper bars molded inside to carry the spark from the coils to the plugs. I replaced it with a new one, thinking it may have had a hairline crack in it, I read it was a common problem with age.

What about the plugs from harness to coil? Are the plugs in tight, are any pins rattling in the housings, are any wires pulling loose? Also, how are the ground connections in the engine bay? Are the battery cable ends tightly attached to the battery and free of corrosion? (A few common problems I see when helping friends troubleshoot )

The boot that goes between the plastic coil housing and the plug is also a high failure rate part. They used to be hard to come by but I know that napa was selling them when I quit turning wrenches about 8 years back. They where not too expensive either.
BTW, you are correct about the plastic coil housing being a high failure rate part. Back in that cars day there where more problems with that then the 4.3l vortec injector body failure. Anyone that knows GM will know that one! LOL!

I'd check the blinker fluid first.

Could be a clogged injector?

Are you sure the misfire is not from fuel delivery? Filter? Pump? Injectors?
