What does your car idle at doing 70-ish MPH?

I dont do a lot of highway driving but i was on the highway the other day and in 6th gear doing 120 KM/H which is roughly 75 MPH i was at like 3000-3200 RPM. Seems kinda high to me to just be cruising on a flat highway. Like am i burning through gas quicker than i should be or is this a normal thing for SVT's?

First off cool name. Secondly you're not idling at 75mph and if you are you'd have to be going down a mountain .

3000-3200 sounds about what I do on the highway as well on stock size tires. I just wish I had a corvette 70mph=1400rpm.

yeah I'm not the brightest bulb in the bunch when it comes to gearing and gear ratio's but 70@3100-3200 always struck me as high in a gear that tops out at ~183(IIRC) but like I said, I don't know a whole lot about such things.

I'll check this morning and post again, but I think it's around 3k. If you made the gear any taller, you'd probably have to downshift to get any kind of acceleration at all at highway speeds. I doubt you'd even be able to go up a 1% grade without downshifting.

I believe the differential gear ratio on an SVT is 4.25:1, so 3000-3200 rpm at 75 mph(122 kph) sounds right.
