Melted Headlights ?

I bought my 01 se about two years ago . I noticed at night my lights weren't as good as compared to other vehicals i had driven. I decided to put new beams in and discovered that where the light twist and locks into place had melted. this was on both head lights. Now I have some cement on both the lights to hold them in place. Of course at night the lighs are aimed across the street and not on the road. Where can i purchase the Entire light assembly and how much do they cost. OH YEAH is this normal wear ?

eBay is a good source for this kinda stuff... As for the price, I don't know...

I ran some after-market bulbs in my 2001 and had problems with the connectors getting brittle. The right side one just fell apart. They also caused some dis-coloring of the lens at the top... Needless to say, I went back to the Sylvania OEM bulbs...

The headlight assys in my avatar were bought off E-Bay......about $140 for the pair. These are the ones in black housings....fairly easy install. They came with new bulbs.

Could have been a short somewhere causing to much wattage to the bulbs and could have melted the housing.
