uGH.. RIP??

So. My motor is toast.

Mechanic just called me and told me that the reason it died was due to timing issues. Something about my cam belt getting fd, then fing my valves, which in turn fd my cylinders.

Now im smelling bs. Zetecs are tollerable of some interferance correct? I get that my motor is siezed, but i dont like being hosed as to why it seized.

Also hes saying that to correct it it will be somewhere around 3500. which i dont have.. and i only owe 3600 on the car.. wtf.

standard zetec is a non interference motor! Its a matter of replacing the belt, retiming the cams, and your good to go.

But if he is correct about fd valves and cylinders, he is prolly trying to say the head gasket blew (i highly doubt). Now, you could have dropped a valve, melted it to a piston, which would require extensive work.

The motor would only seize if:

1)rusting of rings and pistons to sleeves
2)ran out of oil and fried it

just go to a junkyard, pick up a zetec motor and tell him to do a direct swap, it will cost you about 1k plus the cost of the motor itself!
