FINALLY good news with insurance

ok so some of you may recall various mentionings of my car getting hit on dec 1st.. i've been dealing with the chick for a while now on insurance.. good news is i know her so she can't really get away (we both work in the same area and being both military her command is involved) bad news though is she has been refusing to give up her info stating she reported it and to just wait to get called.

well i talked to my insurance again today and gave them her VIN number (tracked her car down finally.. was easy since she was in the brig and it wasn't gonna keep bouncing around the base) i'll get a call back in the next few days. BUUUUUUTTTTTTTT.. THE BEST PART...

if the check comes back and they get her insurance info .. i'm covered, but since i've already begun to do repairs myself they will be forced to give me a check instead of sending it into the body shop.

if the check comes back and she either for sure doesn't have insurance, or she refuses to respond to the letter they will send her (considering they've hung up on the 3 times...) then i will STILL be covered under my "uninsured motorist assistance"

they said since i've been very helpful in getting everything i could for them and since they have been able to get her to answer the phone but she's obviously avoiding them.. the last option is the VIN check (she yanked her plates off the car before my wife got them wrote down..LOOOON STORY DON'T ASK.. cops were never called, i know the girl so i trusted her a little too much..)

so they will cover up to $3500... damages were only 2k... so he told me by the end of the week i should know what's going on and if it comes to the unisured motorist blah blah blah.. they will cut me a check for the full amount of the qoute.. which ever one i want to turn in, and then let me go on my happy way, then turn around and file a lawsuit against her for the cost of that check, and thier fees.

so.. one way i'm getting my stuff fixed finally, and it looks like it'll be as a check, so i can put that towards my aftermarket headlights and grill, and suspension (considering i fixed the fender.. no need to replace and paint. and later i'll be replacing the bumper no need to replace and repaint that....
