I've got a set as well that I will be installing in the next month or so. You will have to make some changes to get them to work. Since they are european latches, you will need to get the stock euro door pull cables. The US versions are not the correct size (I can't remember is they're longer or shorter, but the US ones can't be modified to work). Also, the size and shape is a little different, so if you want them to look factory, you should also consider getting the euro trim piece that goes around them. Be aware that the euro piece will also delete the power door lock switches. It's not a big deal to me, but some people may not like that. I hope to have mine done by the end of Feb., so I'll make sure to post up pics when I get it done.

Are they actually metal or aluminum? If not it seems the modifications are not worth it and your better of painting your stock ones.

They are just painted plastic. I know it would be easier to just paint the stock ones, but sometimes Euroness is an addiction that can only be assuaged by buying obscure and non-essential parts.

However, I believe the ones from the ghia editions and the RS Focus are chromed metal. I thought about those, but since the SVT is basically a cousin of the ST-170, I felt that these were more appropriate.

Oh man, I was LUSTING for those for so long, but the more I looked into it, the more of a PITA it seemed (all the reasons listed above).

But I'll be psyched to see pics when you guys have achieved success with them.

(And it's totally beyond me why Ford changed the design for the U.S. in the FIRST place...)

Awesome Xmas gift, nonetheless - someone's lookin' out for you!
