Black Ice 2008 focus wreck

So driving back from Kalamazoo visiting my significant other, I wrecked my new focus. Luckily there were no injuries but I was sandwiched in a 12 car pile up last night heading down I-94 when all of the sudden the road turned into a skating rink and there were 4 cars in front of me completely blocking the road. The reason I couldn't see them was because they were just over a hill. I was only going 25mph at the time and I tried to veer into the ditch on the side to avoid hitting the vehicles. No steering whatsoever, completely lost control and hit a Honda Civic in front of me, then a Suburban came right behind me and smashed into the left of my rear end. Car is not drivable at all. Still have to meet with my claims adjuster to find out if its totaled, either way its going to be $1,000 to fix it with my deductible. Black ice is the silent killer.

This is the only picture I have of it now from the rear end but I will get more later. My laptop and a $1,000 mixer were in the trunk that got smashed as well. I am completely devastated...I loved that car and took excellent care of it :(

Good thing that you walked out of that ordeal. It could've been much worse.

It could have been much worse and I'm very thankful that nobody else was hurt either.

Not good!

That had to be a pretty scary ordeal. We've all had accidents, but when you realize that you are on a complete sheet of ice, and totally out of control, it's got to take your breath away.

Glad you walked away in 1 pc.

(kinda makes you feel indestructable though, huh? I've walked away from some serious car and MC wrecks on the street with minimal damage and I think I must be on life # 8 of 9 or something like that.)

There was a story on the news about it, 100+ accidents on 94 that night...Absolute carnage. I really appreciate everyone's kind thoughts and condolences. Like I said above all, nobody was hurt so that is a very good thing.
